Galle City Sound Library Sri Lanka – Recording the Heartbeat of the Coast
During our time in Galle, Sri Lanka, we set out to record the city’s rich soundscape—from the wall of its colonial-era fort to the energy of its streets and the tranquility of its coastline. Wandering through the historic fort at sunrise, we listened as waves crashed against the ancient walls, crows and peacocks called from the treetops, and the morning wind rustled through the palm trees.
In the heart of the city, tuk-tuks rattled through the streets, their engines blending with the distant rumble of thunder as rain slicked the roads. Workers swept the sidewalks with steady, rhythmic strokes, while nearby, schoolchildren laughed and chatted, their voices echoing around the old walls of Galle Dutch Fort.
