During our time in Chiangmai, Thailand, I was fortunate enough to visit the Mae Kampong Waterfall at the peak of the rainy season, when the water's force was most magnificent. Nestled near Maepong Village and the Doi Mon Lan trek, this 7-level waterfall is not only a breathtaking sight but also a haven for the harmonious sounds of nature, including the occasional calls of gibbons at dawn.
In an effort to record the ambience of this natural wonder, I ventured to record the waterfall's myriad sounds. My objective was to walk from various tiers of the waterfall, starting at the summit and descending downwards.
To ensure the recordings were as immersive as possible, I employed several techniques and pieces of equipment, including the DPA 4060 microphones with extended cables for proximity to the water's flow and strategic placement of microphones to seize the sound from different angles.
This sound library is a treasure trove for those involved in producing nature documentaries, meditation and relaxation content, or any project requiring the serene backdrop of a waterfall's chorus.
