When I stumbled upon one at Libby’s family’s basement in Iowa, I knew it was a golden opportunity to capture some amazing slide projector sounds for post-production and sound design.
After plugging in the slide projector, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it still worked perfectly despite being covered in dust. I used a Zoom H6 with an attached XY microphone to record the sounds, which included the hum of the projector’s fan, the sound of slides being inserted into the slots, and the cycling of the slides on the carousel.
