Rusty Metal Sound Effects

Introducing a new horror sound effects library that sound designers won’t want to miss! While exploring the city of Lisbon, Portugal, I stumbled upon the spooky sounds emanating from a floating pier in Cacilhas. The eerie squeaks, tosses, and turns gave me goosebumps and inspired me to capture these sounds.
Despite the odd looks from a couple of security ladies, I continued to record the pier’s otherworldly noises. And that wasn’t all – I also discovered a rusty grid winch nearby that hadn’t been used in over 50 years. Using my contact microphone, I captured the metal grinding and creaking as I spun the wheel from different angles.
For the best quality recordings, I made two trips to the location. On the first trip, I used the Zoom H6 recorder and AGK C411pp contact mic to record in 96kHz-24Bit without any ambient noise. But when I got my hands on the Zoom F6 field recorder, I knew I had to go back for round two. This time, I used the AKG contact mic and USI Pro to record all files in 192kHz-32Bit. This high-quality format allows for stretching and manipulation, making it perfect for sound design.
All of the recordings are royalty-free and available for use in commercial and noncommercial projects. So, whether you’re working on a horror film, game, or any other project that requires creepy sound effects, these recordings will be the perfect addition to your collection. Get ready to scare your audience with these bone-chilling sounds!
