For this recording, I explored different areas in Hoi An and came across several rice fields filled with water and mud, but out of respect for the hardworking farmers preparing for the upcoming season, I didn’t want to record there. Besides, I noticed pesticides being sprayed, which made me feel it would be better to avoid the fields altogether.
Fortunately, just down the street from the home we were renting, I found an open field of mud! I took off my shoes and walked up and down the field, noticing a mud hole that I used to simulate fast and slow footsteps. The end result was a high-quality sound library that my friend could use for his project, and now you can download these royalty-free footstep sound effects too!
