Nothing is better than a spooky sound effect, but what’s even better is when it’s natural! While living in my friend’s place in Germany, I realized he had super old window blinds that created a very unusual sound. I have never seen this type of window blind in the US.

The room would become completely dark if you closed the blinds, but that’s not their only purpose. They also isolate noise and can keep away intruders. It’s not easy to open these window blinds from the outside!

Everything around this window blind is old, including the cord and the parts attached to it, which are fixed inside the wall. Despite its age, the system has been working for over 30 years. The German word for the Window Blind is “Rollladen” or “Storen”.
