This tragedy spurred a mission of hope and resilience, resulting in the extension of the West Jetty wall, a project born from a father's love aimed at safeguarding future generations.

Completed a decade later, this revamped spot earned the affectionate nickname "The Hook" among local bodysurfers, only to be known as "The Wedge" by the 60s. Today, it not only offers some of the most challenging waves but also serves as a sonic sanctuary for those seeking the ocean's most profound and soothing sounds.
